Stills Photographer - Adam Patterson
My name is Adam Patterson; I am 22 years old and from Northern Ireland. I grew up in Ireland and left for University in England when I was 19. I enrolled in Film & Photography, with photography having been my only passion at school. I spent the 2nd year of my degree studying in South Carolina and it was there, under some very influential staff, that my interest for the moving image grew. I graduated in June 2004 back in England with a lot of ideas but an uncertainty of which path to take them.
My love of recording began with family holidays in foreign places as a child, worlds different to what I believed life to be. I would shoot roll after roll on family holidays, mostly of people's feet, to the dismay of my mother, not being tall enough to reach eye level. As I grew into my teenage years I began to travel independently, and with help from my parents my fascination with the world continued. My photography came hand in hand with my travels as I continued to record the interacting mix of culture that I found.
This work continues today, although I now make time to record musicians as well, encapsulating another of my passions. I have had little professional work photographically, working for student newspapers, low budget magazines and up-and-coming bands. I have had a placement at the BBC and worked professionally as a cameraman on one of their documentaries.
So with a mix of experience behind me I came to Australia this past September with an open mind. Willing to embrace any opportunity that came along and hoping to work with anything in photography or film. I have found the people here most welcoming, and am very grateful to Sally for giving me this opportunity to be part of such a dedicated and well organized team. I am hoping that everyone else will get as much out of this production as I am sure I will.
