The
History of Making The Most Of Life
Making The Most of Life began twelve years
ago under the auspices of Council On The Ageing, Victoria. The
idea of a recreation and leisure event for Seniors was concieved
and executed as a participatory event to replace the Celebration
Lunch originally held on UN Day for Older People.
The event was first staged at Moonee Valley
Race Course, moved to Caulfield Race Course, and as it grew over
the past five years, changed venues to the Aquatic Centre and
adjacent Albert Park, finally finding a home at the Royal Exhibition
Buildings, Melbourne.
This event is based on the premise that
whatever activities interested people when they were teenagers,
probably still do when they are over 50. Add to this all their
subsequent experiences and skills gained over the years and this
is what you will find at Making The Most Of Life.
It is primarily a community event featuring
community organisations across a number of theme areas, such
as Music, Drama, Arts & Crafts, Sports of all kinds, Environment,
History, Healthy Lifestyle, Recreation and Leisure pursuits.
The emphasis is on active and interactive
displays and activities.
Emjay Projects has managed Making The Most
Of Life for the past six years, culminating last year in the
event being awarded the prestigious Minister for Sport and Recreation
Award for "outstanding contribution to the industry by an
individual, organization or partnership".
Emjay Projects is proud to continue providing
the wider Victorian Community with the opportunity to participate
in this popular and growing event for the Over 50's.
