A Word
From The Organizer, Marg Woodlock-McLean
"Making the Most of Life (MMOL)
has grown to become one of the premier events on the Over 50's
calender.
MMOL presents community exhibitors across
the broad range of sport, craft, music, travel, tourism, table
games, computers, collectables, motoring, horticulture, art,
photography, dance, conservation, environment, social clubs,
community service clubs - in fact all the leisure pursuits that
interested everyone when they were teenagers, plus many more
that are now available in the community.
This event is a showcase for many organizations,
and helps the patrons make an informed choice. It is a day of
sharing and learning, having fun, making new friends, with an
opportunity for exhibitors to promote their organization and
gain new members.
IT IS FREE
- Come with a friend, or a group. This event is yours and it's
tailor-made for you - no matter what your circumstances in life,
there are countless opportunities to use your skills and experience
in community groups that interest you.
The MMOL team were delighted to be acknowledged
in 2000 with the prestigious Minister for Sport and Recreation
Award for "outstanding contribution to the industry
by an individual, organization or partnership", which was
a great honour for both the event and it's organisers and supporters.
The award was accepted by Patricia Reeve and Delys Sargent from
Council on the Ageing, Victoria at the official dinner held in
August that year.
In the year 2001, Making the Most of
Life faced a few changes. The Department of Human Services
made the decision to not fund the event that year, due to budget
restraints, and Council On The Ageing, Victoria, who have tirelessly
supported both myself and the event, decided that it was time
to step out of their role as "Making the Most of Life"
Event Producers.
I would like to thank Council On The Ageing, Victoria for their
unceasing support and vision since the inception of MMOL twelve
years ago, and the Dept. of Human Services for their financial
contribution over six years.
It has since been decided that due to the
enormous contribution Making the Most of Life makes to
the Over 50's community, it will continue under the management
of Emjay Projects, with private sponsorship providing the necessary
funding required to annually stage the event. It has also been
decided to take the event to the next stage and take the event
the regional Victoria, moving from the Royal Exhibition Buildings,
Melbourne, whom I wholeheartedly thank for their enormous and
generous support since the event moved there in 1999.
As we now enter the new millenium, it is
our objective to ensure that Making The Most Of Life continues
to provide older people with the opportunity to share their expertise,
knowledge and invaluable contribution to the community with all
generations of Australians.
And I hope to see you this year at Making
The Most Of Life 2002 on the Mornington Peninsula!"
