Jay began his involvement with
music as a teenager, going onto become one of Melbourne's top
street funk dancer/choreographers in the mid-1990's. He was the
founding member of the R&B groups FourPlay & P.H.D.,
before leaving to concentrate on his solo career as a singer/songwriter.
Jay writes various styles of dance music
across the commercial fringe spectrum, including funk, R&B,
techno, house, trance and ballads. His songs have appeared on
the soundtrack of UK independent film A Little Rain Must Fall, as well as the
upcoming Australian short film, Undercover.
He has collaborated with various
artists including Anthony Abicair (DJ D*lish, 2am), Jason Taylor
and Troy Jansen.
Jay's dance experience includes
performances at various dance venues and events such as Billboard,
The Venue, Metro, Chevron, Chasers, Warehouse, Ritz, Manhattan,
Jooce, Wall Street, Monsoons at Hyatt, 21st Century, Dava Hotel
and New Year's at Dromana Drive In, performing to crowds
of up to 3,000. He has been a dancer/choreographer for Klue
Control, Fudge Dancers and Four Play - who were runners
up in the highly competitive Warehouse Dance Comp to Midnight
Dancers in 1994.
His first love, however, is performing
and collaborating with other singer/songwriters, both on stage
and in the studio, as well as working on his own music projects. |
