The Business of Auditioning with Dina Mann

Auditions. The one thing nearly every actor dreads most, and yet we must all go through them. This workshop is designed to dispel the myths and non-effective habits we all form to get through this sometimes anxious, yet ultimately necessary experience. We can't make you enjoy auditioning, but we can certainly help you feel more confident when doing them!

The first two sessions are spent preparing an audition scene, discussion of the professional audition process as a whole, CV and headshot preparation (the "tools" of the trade).

On the third session, the students undertake an audition with established and well-respected Australian Film & Television Casting Director, Dina Mann (Casting Director for: Widower, CrashBurn, Japanese Story, Mallboy, Waiting At The Royal, Head On, The Missing, Crackers, Road To Nhill, etc), which will be put on tape, concluding with feedback on their work. Students will be asked to learn a scene, selected by the tutors prior to the class (which will be sent to them when they book a place).

Students have the chance to work with Sally & Dina on their audition technique for screen, ask questions about the audition process and working on screen. Students will then put a scene on tape.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a job interview or audition. The presence of a casting director is neither a guarantee nor a promise of employment. The intent of the class is solely educational. In other words, you are not paying to audition for Dina, but to learn from her in the audition situation - just to be clear!
