Playing The Bard (Shakespeare in Action)
Experience
Level of Students Required:
Beginner (Emerging)
to Intermediate
Shakespeare wrote his plays to be performed on a stage, not read in a classroom. Using Shakespeare's works through performance, by getting up and performing them on stage as he intended when he wrote them, we find a world of passion, betrayal, faith, violence, love, revenge and comedy - concepts that have universal themes that we still relate to (as you can see in any blockbuster at any cinema today).
This workshop has been created to explore the power, excitement and life of his plays and characters and help actors who feel overwhelmed by his words discover that Shakespeare can provide any actor's dream role - once you put his words into action.
Students will be asked to learn a monologue, selected by the tutor prior to the class (which will be sent to them when they book a place).
