Acting Up Newsletter - December 2005 - Quick Update

Acting Up Survey

I'm running a market research survey to find out what kind of acting training people are looking for. If you have a spare 15 minutes and wouldn't mind filling out the survey online telling me what kind of classes you're looking for and interested in, that would be great.

You'll find the survey here: http://www.salmac.com/research/survey_classes.html

All those who submit their contact name and email address at the foot of the survey, will go into a draw to win a free place on the Acting Up 2006 Workshop of their choice, worth between $150 and $200. There are two places to give away. The winners will be chosen at random from the survey participants who enter.

The survey period is from today until December 15, 2005.

We have a great line up of classes for the first three months of 2006 - details will be sent out in our final newsletter for 2005 in mid-December.

Acting Up Student News

Acting Up students (from the 2003/2004 weekly classes), Anthony & Michelle Douglas are currently appearing in lead roles in the fabulous comedy Lend Me A Tenor produced by Frankston Theatre Group. The show is getting a great buzz and is playing at the Mt Eliza Community Centre. Dates: December 2, 3, 4, 9 & 10. Bookings (03) 9775 5017. Performances for the 2nd, 3rd & 10th of December 2005 are nearly sold out - so don't miss out! (Congrats to Anthony and Michelle on landing lead roles with such a great show - I know you'll both be terrific!).

Also, Acting Up students Peter Flaherty (2003 weekly classes) and Harry Paternoster (2004 weekly classes and workshops) are both involved in the current Short & Sweet Short Play Festival taking place at the Blackbox Studio at the Arts Centre, Melbourne.

Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough to let you all know about Peter's role in the Main Season play Our Last Time Together, which took place from November 23rd to 26th (sorry Pete!), but for those who missed his performance, you can catch him in the Best of the Rest/Wildcard Play Just Douglas, which plays at the Blackbox on Saturday, December 3rd at 3pm for one show only. It just so happens that Just Douglas also marks Harry Paternoster's directorial debut! (well done to both Pete and Harry for all your hard work! I'm sure you'll both be a hit in your respective roles!).

Bookings through Ticketmaster - 1300 136 166 or on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.au. General information about the Short & Sweet Festival is available from the Melbourne Arts Centre on (03) 9281 8000.

Are you a previous Acting Up student? Then let me know what you're up to so I can tell everyone!!

"Blue Heelers" Gig

And, on a final note - I've just had confirmation from my agent that my audition for Blue Heelers (which took place on Monday) was successful and I have been cast in a guest role which shoots next week. This means that I'll be rather hard to catch on the phone (with rehearsals and filming) so if you want to get in touch - best to do it via email (I will be checking my email at the end of each day, so I will get back to you asap).

Hope this finds you all well and happy and enjoying your own successes.

Cheers for now,
