Acting
Up Under New Management
Acting Up is now being managed by Incognita Enterprises - the new arm of
Salmac Productions dedicated to Arts Education and Theatre Production.
Sally McLean remains the Creative Director of both businesses. With the new business, a whole new line up of workshops have been created to celebrate! While some details for the workshops remain to be finalised, I thought it was best to get the information out to all of you as soon as possible, and then send you a "breaking news" email once the other details are in. For example, once the Casting Director is confirmed for "The Business of Auditioning", I'll send out an update so you'll know who you'll be meeting in the workshop!
New Acting Up Workshops Announced!
November Workshops:
----------------------------------------
The
Basics of Acting
A class designed for beginners, or those who have not yet trained,
but are interested in learning the basic techniques required for
acting with naturalism - a technique used for all screen work,
as well as a majority of stage productions. Using the Stanislavski
method, and incorporating elements of the Adler technique, students
will work on scenes during the workshop which will then be put
on tape.
Students will be asked to prepare a scene, selected by the tutor, prior to the class.
Workshop: The Basics of Acting
Date: Saturday, 12 November, 2005
Times: 10am to 4pm
Venue: Mt Martha House, Crn The Esplanade & Dominion Roads,
Mt Martha VIC 3934

The
Business of Auditioning
Auditions. The one thing every actor dreads most, and yet we must
all go through them. This workshop is designed to dispel the myths
and non-effective habits we all form to get through this sometimes
difficult, always anxious, experience. We can't make you enjoy
auditioning, but we can certainly help you feel more confident
when doing them!
The morning will be spent preparing an audition scene, with students doing a mock audition with an established Melbourne Casting Director in the afternoon, which will be put on tape, concluding with feedback on their work.
Students will be asked to prepare a scene, selected by the tutors prior to the class.

Acting Up gets a revamp - New Look Website and Interactive Messageboard
In celebration of the new Acting Up, we've re-vamped the website to include photos from past student productions (film and theatre), as well as creating a new resource - the Acting Up Message Board - where you can ask questions of our tutors, check out film, television and theatre auditions from around Australia and find out what's on in film screenings and theatre productions in your area.
PLUS - You can add yourself to our FREE Actors and Actresses listings section of the Message Board - which includes the options of adding your headshot, as well as your CV and contact info. These listings are fully indexed by search engines, visable to Guests as well as Registered Members of the Board and provide excellent extra promotion if you already have a website online - or simply a great place to list yourself online if you don't already have a website!
The Message Board is updated daily with new auditions and notices, so make sure you bookmark it to keep up with what's happening!

Audition:
**Semi Paid** Mature actors 4 shoot 26-27th Nov
Short film - "Saucer"
**A dark (black?) comedy about an alien invasion in the 1950s**
This is the second film to come out of Seamless Pictures Pty Ltd and is a low budget production. However, we will pay a nominal fee for experienced actors; catering will also be provided.
The shoot is scheduled for the weekend of 26th-27th of November in Melbourne, and currently we are looking for actors to fill the following roles:
JOHN: 40-55 yrs; Janets husband. John is nervy, and has history of depression and of seeing strange visitations that worry him and cause others to worry about his mental fitness. In terms of his marriage, he has become a bit of a gray man - although, in this story, he comes into his own. John has a slightly lost or fazed look about him. The source of his self doubt is really a hidden talent for seeing what others may not.
JANET: 40-55 yrs; Johns wife. Janet is matronly and bossy and has particular ways of doing things. She is not an unkind person exactly, and loves her husband in her way - but she has a tendency to express disapproval through nagging. Used to ruling the house, she is sensible, practical and respectable, and she knows whats best for John.
JACK: 40-55 yrs; Loud and hearty. A small time talk-back radio announcer, Jack is a voice for the local people in his town, and an old friend of Johns. Jack is flamboyant, calls a spade a spade, and can be obnoxious. Janet disapproves of him and his radio antics. Jacks radio station is about to come under alien influence.
Ideally I would ask those interested to please contact us by email by Friday the 4th of November. Please forward your expression of interest (preferably with a short bio or cv) to seamlesspictures@optusnet.com.au
Auditions will be held on Sunday the 6th of November, however it may be possible to negotiate another time if this date does not suit.
Many thanks from the Seamless Pictures team,
Lachlan (writer/producer) and Gary (producer/director)
