THE EVENT
THAT BEGAN THIS SITE
The inaugural Mornington Peninsula
Peace Vigil was an
event that focused on the peace process and the acknowledgement
and celebration of Australia's cultural diversity.
Statements were collected and
read out from individuals representing all facets of the community,
some of whom also personally presented their thoughts. Click
on the names listed below to read their peace statement from
the vigil.

Unfortunately, due to the increasing
problems with public liability insurance cover, our plans for
future peace vigils have had to be put on hold until we can find
another way to carry on our offline initiatives.
But, undeterred by this setback
and with the realisation that the desire for peace is not just
a local, but global concern, we have turned our attention to
promoting the principals of peace online through this website,
giving visitors worldwide the opportunity to participate in this
global initiative.
Rondon D'Antoine has graciously
agreed to allow us to continue to use his artwork as our
logo, and so it will continue to be used to promote peace
for all peoples both nationally and internationally.
Our catchphrase and site title
- "Walking the Pathways to Peace" - was inspired by
Rondon's work.
You can begin your participation
in the peace process in our what you
can do section, which gives suggestions on how you can
contribute to the peace process right now, and you can also sign
our Peace Book.
Funds raised from the sales
of our products created with
our logo will be divided equally between CARE Australia and Oxfam
in the form of donations to help them with their invaluable humanitarian
efforts.
We look forward to bringing
you more information and opportunities to contribute to the peace
and reconciliation process.
Thank you for your support.
