JEFF RICHARDS
Jeff Richards is Managing
Director of Panther Films Pty Ltd and Big Cat Productions, dedicated
to creating commercial theatre, film and television.
In early 1997, Jeff wrote,
produced and played a lead role in his first written piece, Stations,
performed at the Carlton Courthouse, Melbourne under the direction
of Andrew Johnston. Stations went on to win four
awards that year from the Victorian Drama League for Best Production,
Best Director, Best Sound and Best Supporting Actor. It also
played to full audiences, and was placed at the top of the "A-List"
in The Age for the best theatre production to see in Melbourne
at that time.
The highly respected Playbox
Theatre wrote of Stations: "... characters
that were accessible and well defined ... understanding of structure
and sense of theatre ... harmonics of meaning and connection
... a playwright (of) exciting qualities."
Since then Jeff has continued
to produce and write, completing numerous full length stage and
screen pieces, as well as many songs and background scoring for
his various projects.
Jeff made his debut as a producer
for film with the short film fixNATION in 2004 (screened on "OutThere",
Foxtel 2005, Selected: Best of Anything Goes Film Screenings
2004, Melbourne), followed by his work as Associate Producer
for short film Brigit & Benny (a modern faerietale)
in 2005, both for Salmac Productions. His most recent production
position was as Production Coordinator for Galaxy Productions'
Rock It! - a children's series broadcast on Network
Ten in 2007, filmed at Studio City, Docklands.
As an actor/singer around Melbourne,
and abroad for the past 15 years, Jeff Richards professional
acting credits cover many facets of the entertainment industry,
from film to television, musicals to straight theatre.
Jeffs other written pieces
include the feature films Heart and Uriel.
In development are the feature films Taleron,
Edward and The Bear Pit, television
projects The Mukes - an animated childrens
series and theatre productions Siblings - a four
part play and Portraits - a two part musical.
