WRITER/PRODUCER: JEFF RICHARDS
Jeff Richards is Managing Director of Panther Films Pty Ltd and Big Cat Productions, dedicated to creating commercial theatre, film and television.

In early 1997, Jeff wrote, produced and played a lead role in his first written piece, Stations, performed at the Carlton Courthouse, Melbourne under the direction of Andrew Johnston. Stations went on to win four awards that year from the Victorian Drama League for Best Production, Best Director, Best Sound and Best Supporting Actor. It also played to full audiences, and was placed at the top of the "A-List" in The Age for the best theatre production to see in Melbourne at that time.

The highly respected Playbox Theatre wrote of Stations: "... characters that were accessible and well defined ... understanding of structure and sense of theatre ... harmonics of meaning and connection ... a playwright (of) exciting qualities."

Since then Jeff has continued to produce and write, completing numerous full length stage and screen pieces, as well as many songs and background scoring for his various projects.

Jeff made his debut as a producer for film with the short film fixNATION in 2004 (screened on "OutThere", Foxtel 2005, Selected: Best of Anything Goes Film Screenings 2004, Melbourne), followed by his work as Associate Producer for short film Brigit & Benny (a modern faerietale) in 2005, both for Salmac Productions. His most recent production position was as Production Coordinator for Galaxy Productions' Rock It! - a children's series broadcast on Network Ten in 2007, filmed at Studio City, Docklands.

As an actor/singer around Melbourne, and abroad for the past 15 years, Jeff Richard’s professional acting credits cover many facets of the entertainment industry, from film to television, musicals to straight theatre.

Jeff’s other written pieces include the feature films Heart and Uriel. In development are the feature films Taleron, Edward and The Bear Pit, television projects The Muke’s - an animated children’s series and theatre productions Siblings - a four part play and Portraits - a two part musical.
